I have a love/hate relationship with facial wipes. I once had to replace my entire skincare routine solely with Neutrogena Makeup Removing Towelettes because Zendaya told me to, and my face broke out for two weeks after the fact. When it comes to traveling, though, these quick-fix cleaners are my #1 must have.
I have a pack of wipes with me at all times: I keep them in my carry-on so that during a flight, I can periodically scrub the airplane-dirt off of my face; In my bathroom so I can take off my makeup before I start my cleansing routine; In my gym bag to give my face a quick pre- and post-workout swipe; And in my purse in case I accidentally touch something disgusting and need to sanitize, which happened more often than you’d think in Asia (I’m too cheap to buy facial wipes and hand wipes. Judge me.). I’m completely obsessed, and so is Kim Kardashian, which makes me feel like I’m definitely doing something right.
As a newly-minted facial wipe devotee, I’ve made it my mission to try as many as possible in my journey to find the best, and have a fiiiiinally found a favorite hat I think are worth telling the world (/all five of my readers) about. I promise you — these “moist towelettes” (ew.) are completely amaze-balls.
Important pro-tip from a makeup wipe enthusiast: Keep in mind that these technically aren’t meant to replace your entire skincare routine, so follow up with a cleanser and always, always, always use moisturzier moisturizer — despite what Zendaya says — otherwise your skin will get so dry it will start itching.
Someone sent me these Skyn Iceland wipes to try, and I have been hooked ever since. They are super soap-y, so using them makes you feel like you’re actually washing your face instead of just giving it a once over with a ready wipe, which is perfect for a flight when it’s pretty much your only optoin. Even when I do have an actual sink at my disposal, some nights when I’m really tired/too drunk to care, I’ll use one of these babies and a dollop of moisturizer and call it a night. They can get all traces of my crusty-looking makeup off in one fell swoop (even the waterproof stuff!!!) and I always wake up feeling extra clean. The wipes made with “white willow bark” and “cucumber extract,” two ingredients that simply sound luxe AF. They also happen to be vegan and cruelty free, so I feel like a superior human being every time I use them.
Sadly, I just realized they are sold out after writing 400 words about how obsessed with them I am, but they are set to be back in stock soon. Happy cleansing!
